MeteoGroup certified as service provider to the European aviation sector

MeteoConsult, a MeteoGroup company, is the first private weather business in Europe to be awarded a certificate allowing them to provide weather forecasts to the civil aviation sector. 

Traditionally provision of meteorological services to the aviation sector has been limited to national weather services, however, new European legislation has opened the market to private companies.    

The certificate means that the entire MeteoGroup business, which has operations across Europe, can provide meteorological air navigation services to the European Aviation community. 

 The Dutch Ministry of Transport, the awarding body, completed a number of strict quality operational tests on MeteoConsult’s forecasting operations and practices.  The standards met with the strict regulations as set out by the European Union.
