Applications for the verification system include the generation of formal reports for clients, error reporting for the meteorologists, and tools which enable MeteoGroup to further develop and improve weather forecasts.

The verification system is operated completely independently from forecast systems and gathers data from a wide range of other data sources. The system is flexible enough to enable end-users to generate ‘standard’ or highly customised verification reports on the performance of both short and long range forecast information.
