MeteoGroup employs dedicated meteorologist for Aberdeen
MeteoGroup, Europe’s largest independent weather supplier, has expanded its UK presence by employing a specialist maritime meteorologist in Aberdeen to offer dedicated services to customers in the region.
James Fletcher will be based in Aberdeen and will be working with MeteoGroup’s offshore clients in the North Sea. He joins a network of over 100 meteorologists around Europe. His new role will include forecasting and daily onsite weather briefings.
As part of its offshore service, MeteoGroup provides forecasts for activities in harbour and deep water for a range of clients including dredgers, heavy lifters, towing, rock placements, oil and gas companies and research/construction companies.
James will work with three global forecasting models and a sophisticated in-house forecasting system with forecasts constantly being scrutinised by a warning and verification system monitoring quality of forecasts issued. An additional feature of the service available to clients includes MeteoGroup forecasts supplied via client-specific web pages.
James has extensive experience of the local Aberdeen climate after spending a number of years in the weather industry based in that area.
Managing Director for MeteoGroup, Jennie Campbell said: “Due to the high concentration of offshore businesses in the city all operating in such a weather critical environment it is essential that we have local expert like James to offer guidance on the latest weather situation.”
Meteorologist, James Fletcher, said: “I am delighted to be joining MeteoGroup and welcome the opportunity to support businesses so critically affected by the weather.”
